Michael Korte Teiman is a trial attorney with the firm and primarily focuses on cases involving personal injury, suing the government, wrongful death, and workplace injuries. Michael has worked in plaintiff’s-side civil litigation since before law school. He has significant experience in effectively and efficiently litigating a variety of case types and maximizing his client’s recovery through that process.
Michael was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona and moved to Huntington Beach, California when he was fifteen. He has been a Southern California resident ever since. His first job was at Ruby’s Diner (ultimately working for Ruby’s for over a decade) on the Huntington Beach pier where his strong work ethic, effective prioritization, and customer services skills were developed and refined. After graduating from Cal Poly Pomona, Michael went on a seven-week backpacking trip of Europe that shaped his world-view and empathy for others. During the financial crisis of 2008, he obtained a Master’s in Education from National University and unsuccessfully attempted to become a history teacher. From this, he was reinvigorated to pursue his desire to practice law.
Michael graduated from Loyola Law School in 2017. He enrolled in the evening program in order to continue working and provide for his family. Michael participated in multiple activities, clinics, and internships during law school (all while working), including: the Center for Conflict Resolution, the Young Lawyers Program, the Human Rights Clinic, intern at SEIU 741, and intern at Navy JAG – Port Hueneme. Before law school, Michael worked at a bankruptcy law firm in Orange County until he found a passion for litigation with Brian Kabateck’s firm – an extremely high-profile, reputable, and experienced law firm in Los Angeles. Since passing the bar, Michael has handled many types of cases from elder abuse/neglect to government claims to insurance bad faith and consumer class actions. As Michael has been an Orange County and Huntington Beach local for some time, he jumped at the opportunity to forego the commute to Los Angeles and join the team of excellent lawyers and great people at DiMarco, Araujo, Montevideo.
Michael is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, Consumer Attorneys of California, American Association for Justice, and serves on the Loyola Law School Orange County Alumni Council. Michael recently published an article – along with John Montevideo – in Forum magazine and is certified to practice law before the Central District of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Aside from advocating for his clients, Michael spends the majority of his spare time with his family (wife, three kids, two dogs). He continuously volunteers with his church and enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, sports, current events, carpentry/restoration, and playing all kinds of games.
